All Things Gabba

Amazon Toy Time’s Blog has a nice write-up of the new season of Yo Gabba Gabba (which started yesterday, by the way). They also have a hands-on review of the Dancing Brobee doll from Spinmaster, which MDIAG! didn’t know was in stores yet…

On the music front, the latest Entertainment Weekly (with Anne Hathaway on the cover) wrote a Yo Gabba Gabba soundtrack album will be available on iTunes on October 14. Family music site Zooglobble (love those Web 2.0 names) list the tracks:

1. Party In My Tummy – Yo Gabba Gabba!
2. Hey, Won’t Somebody Come Out and Play – The Little Ones
3. I Like To Dance – Yo Gabba Gabba!
4. Train Ride – Tahiti 80
5. Get The Sillies Out – Yo Gabba Gabba!
6. Happy Birthday – The Ting Tings
7. Biz’s Beat of the Day – Biz Markie
8. Be Nice To Animals – The Salteens
9. I’m So Sorry – Yo Gabba Gabba!
10. Lovely, Love My Family – The Roots
11. Pool Party – The Aquabats
12. Goodbye Song – Yo Gabba Gabba!
13. Bedtime Lullaby – Mark Kozelek

Lastly, a quick MDIAG! review of “Birthday”, the first episode of YGG Season 2: It thankfully avoided the sophomore slump by keeping in perspective that after all, it is a kids show, not a trip for stoners or college slackers.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t become an annoying parade of celebrities in the episodes to come.

Reading is Fun (Too!)

Amazon’s Omnivoracious blog updated yesterday with a weekly roundup of “Kid-Lit” news and releases. Including some interesting news of a new book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series by a familiar author:

Speaking of Children’s Bookshelf, that’s where I learned that Eoin Colfer (author of the stupendously popular Artemis Fowl series) will be writing a follow-up to Mostly Harmless, as a continuation of the even more stupendously popular Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy “trilogy”–which ended abruptly after the death of Douglas Adams.

More Than A Talking Point

All of us at MDIAG here are totally floored. Korean high school student Han Byul Jang seems to have done the impossible – create a PowerPoint presentation that doesn’t put us to sleep while simultaneously do something with the tool that we bet was never conceived by Mr. Gates himself.

Since the creator started using PowerPoint at the young age of nine, perhaps all MDIAG parents can learn from this to further foster their children’s creativity than through more traditional means, and at the same time help with their computer proficiency at an early age.

We encourage you to click on the link below and take a look at these amazing animation productions.

LittleBigPlanet Collides with Earth this October

October 20 is going to be a very, very busy week. Moms and Dads can impress the kids with their amateur game design skills when LittleBigPlanet is finally released to the masses on PS3. Originally announced way back in January 2007, LBP supports up to four players locally or online. Sounds like a family function to us!
